Criteria Requirements for Institutional Member
Institutional Member Criteria:
Measure: Institutional Members are institutions of higher education in the region that are in good standing with the relevant quality assurance agency if one exists.

Proof of recognition as a Higher Education Institution: In order to provide Quality Education, Mehran University of Engineering & Technology is striving hard and adopted dynamic changes in the education system. Working on the above mission, the University implemented Quality Management System under ISO 9001:2000 and was certified in September 2003.
Proceeding to the same pace of development, the University maintained its quality and re-certified for further three years upto September 2009 by an International Certification Agency M/S Lloyds Register Quality Assurance under ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management System.
The Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) has also been established in the University under the Quality Assurance Agency of Higher Education Commission. The QEC is on the way of developing quality assurance processes and methods of evaluation to affirm that the quality of provision and the standard of awards are being maintained and to foster curriculum, subject and staff development, together with research and other scholarly activities. The QEC serves as the king pin to achieve the objective of quality learning standards by auditing academic standards and the quality of teaching, learning and management in each subject area. It will promote public confidence that the quality and standards of the award of degrees, management and over all quality of knowledge being imparted by the institutions are enhanced and safeguarded.
The University has implemented a continual system of academic development by the adoption of following system:

The University is striving to provide better quality education in Engineering, Science & Technology. Over all system of education has improved substantially by implementation of ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management Systems in the University and more significantly Higher Education Commission of Pakistan is also emphasizing and assisting the universities to provide quality higher education to strengthen the faculty, infrastructure and research activities/promotion under the project of establishment of QECs in all universities.

Recent Achievements in Quality Education
â?¢ In ranking configuration of engineering universities declared by Higher Education Commission, Mehran University is on top 5th among the engineering universities of Pakistan and it is the 2nd among the public sector engineering universities.
â?¢ The University has been re-certified under ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management System for further three years upto September 2009.
â?¢ The Faculty Development has been emphasized by inducting potential faculty with more than 45 PhDs in the University and about 40 faculty members are pursuing their higher studies inland/abroad.
â?¢ Research activities are increasing due to availability of high qualified faculty.
â?¢ MUET has received two mega projects of HEC on competitive basis.
â?¢ No. of faculty members are participating in the international conferences and receiving substantial research grant from HEC.
