Proof of recognition as a Higher Education Institution: 1) Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan is the relevant local quality assurance agency.
2) Presently, the Institute's Quality Management System is based on ISO 9001:2000 with a quality policy, quality system manual, six quality system procedures (mandatory to ISO 9001:2000) and nineteen standard operating procedures. The educational programs of IQTM consists of Masters in Total Quality Management, Postgraduate Diploma in Quality Management, Industrial Engineering Management (IEM) and short courses in Quality Assurance and allied subjects.
The number of students are around 600.

IQTM is a member of American Society for Quality (ASQ).
IQTM organizes seminars and conferences in Quality Management of Educational Institutions. In December, 2006 IQTM organized 1st International Conference on Assessing Quality in Higher Education sponsored by HEC, APQN and UNESCO.
The membership of APQN shall greatly benefit the Institute in the above mentioned quality assurance activities and through information sharing with APQN it shall further benefit through:
a) Promotion of good practices in the maintenance and improvement of quality in higher education;
b) Facilitation of research into the practice of quality management in higher education and its effectiveness;
c) Enabling to provide advice and expertise to assist the development of new quality assurance agencies;
d) Facilitation of links between accrediting bodies especially insofar as they operate across national borders;
e) Better-informed international recognition of qualifications;

University of the Punjab has 13 faculties under each of which there are institutes/colleges/departments/centres. Institute of Quality & Technology Management (IQTM) comes under the Faculty of Engineering & Technology, University of the Punjab. The Director of IQTM is Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmad who also heads the Quality Enhancement Cell of University of the Punjab as well. I hope this clarifies IQTMâ??s relationship with the University and its component faculties and now perhaps you can make a more definitive suggestion as to whether University of the Punjab or IQTM should become a member of APQN.
Institute of Quality & Technology Management and Quality Enhancement Cell are hub of the quality assurance activities, it may be better that IQTM becomes a member and rest of the faculties and their components have an access through IQTM.
