She has held appointments as Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Academic) at Deakin University in Australia; University Dean for Academic Planning and Programs and Acting Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs at the City University of New York; Foundation Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the University of South Australia; and Head of the School of General Education at the South Australian Institute of Technology.
Since her retirement in 2003, Dr Martin has provided expert consulting services to the higher education sector, including universities, private providers and government agencies in Australia, Asia and the Gulf region. She specializes in provision of advice on institutional quality assurance, including the development of quality assurance systems for use by government regulators.
Dr. Martin has served on numerous institutional and government boards. She is currently a ministerial appointee to Higher Education Advisory Committees in two Australian states and is on the active register of Quality Auditors for the national higher education audit and accrediting agencies in Australia, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, Oman, Bahrain and Ireland.
