Dr. Hussain Abdullah Alawaji is consultant at the National Commission for Academic Accreditation & Assessment (NCAAA). He worked at the Studies and Development Division (2009-2010), and now at Quality Assurance and Accreditation Division (2010-2014).
Alawaji is professor of Civil Engineering at KSU. He was the PI for several funded research projects from KACST and SABIC. He published over 45 articles in refereed international journals and international conferences.
Internationally, he is a Board member of the International Association for Computer Methods and Advances in Geomechanics (IACMAG) and member of several International Advisory Committees for International Conferences. He is member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). He served in Saudi Pipe Technical committee (SASO).
Alawaji was a member of the Ministry of Higher Education Committee for reviewing general site plan and other design documents for over 10 Universities.
Alawaji has over twenty years academic and research experience and experienced in external review methods. He has completed several formal training programs: External Reviewers, Strategic Planning, and Data Analysis by QAA (UK); Leading changes at higher Education Institutions by H.E. Prince Naif Institute; and Leadership training by Oxford Center. Alawaji chaired NCAAA committee to review the strategic paln and develop annual report (2013). He participated as review consultant (NCAAA) for over 15 external reviews with distinguished international panels. He chaired three NCAAA teams to verify the eligibility of institutional accreditation. Alawaji participated as an observer at 2011 AUQA Audit of the University of Wollongong, Australia. He participated as an observer at 2011 Abet accreditation visit to UOU, Makah, Saudi Arabia.
Alawaji earned his M.S. and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical and Geomechanics Engineering, from the University of Colorado at Boulder, USA.
