Professional Summary Description: Rev. Dr. Errol Elton Joseph is committed to advancing standards of educational quality with a particular interest in smaller institutions. He holds a Diploma in Pastoral Studies from the Open Bible Institute, the Bachelor of Theology (with highest honours) from the Jamaica Theological Seminary, Master of Arts in Christian Education (with honours) from the Caribbean Graduate School of Theology, Jamaica and Doctor of Philosophy in Organizational Leadership from Regent University, Virginia USA.
Since 2008 Dr. Joseph has been the Vice President, Academic Affairs at the West Indies School of Theology, Maracas Valley, Trinidad & Tobago. He has been Academic Dean and President of a Bible College, and Principal of a High School for 17 years. A lecturer at several higher education institutions, at Diploma, Bachelors and Masters levels, since 1982 he has taught various courses including Conflict Management, Principles of Leadership, Research Methods and Spiritual Formation. He led the curriculum development process at two institutions and participated in the successful Registration and/or Accreditation of those institutions. He has sat on several institutional boards and is currently Elder/Director of Education for the open Bible Standard Churches of Trinidad and Tobago. He currently chairs the Board of at least three educational institutions.
His involvement with accreditation began in the early 1990s serving as member of External evaluation teams. He assumed the position of Accrediting Coordinator of the Accreditation Commission of the Caribbean Evangelical Theological Association in 1997 with responsibility to oversee the association’s accreditation service for the over 40 theological college members in the English, French and Spanish speaking Caribbean.
He has attended numerous Caribbean and international conferences and has undergone extensive training as an evaluator and administrator of accreditation. Sample areas of training include Report-Writing, Alternative Delivery Systems and External Quality Assurance as a whole. He possesses considerable practical experience in the field and has conducted training in various aspects of accreditation in Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, Barbados, Puerto Rico and Cuba. In addition to serving as team chair and/or evaluator for visits to numerous (over 25) institutions, he is recognized as one of the elite core of evaluators and team chairs, and is a member of the Accreditation Review Committee of The Accreditation Council of Trinidad and Tobago.
Over the last two years Dr. Joseph has been engaged in a consultative role with Agencia Cubana de Estudios Teológicos (Cuban Agency for Theological Education, ACET) which was established to provide quality assurance to theological colleges in Cuba who are not covered government’s quality assurance system. This involvement included training and the provision of guidance in the development and confirmation of accreditation standards and procedures. This led to the first external evaluation exercise of its kind to be conducted in Cuba in October 2014 resulting in the accreditation of the first university outside of the government system—the Universidad Teológica Pentecostal de Cuba (Pentecostal University of Cuba) in Havana.
Dr Joseph currently resides in Trinidad and Tobago with his Jamaican born wife Lorrien and their 8 year old son Lorrence.
