Professional Summary Description: I am a graduate of Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Nairobi (Kenya), and holds a Master’s Degree from the University of Edinburgh (U.K). I have a Postgraduate Certificate in Quality Assurance from the University of Melbourne, and is currently a candidate of Doctor of Education in Higher Education Leadership at Walden University, USA.

I have been working at the Commission for University Education since 1993, and Head of Department of programme accreditation between 2004, and 2013, during I coordinated accreditation of academic programme. I was central to the development of several standards and guidelines for quality assurance used by he Commission University Education (Kenya), namely: Curriculum Standards and Guidelines; Guidelines for Preparing Proposals for Establishment of Universities; Guidelines for Institutional Audit of Universities; Standards and Guidelines for Open and Distance Learning; and Standards and Guidelines for E-learning.

I was instrumental in the development of the Handbook Processes, Standards and Guidelines for Quality in Higher Education, Commission for Higher Education (Kenya). The Handbook contributed to the development of the East African Regional Handbook “Roadmap to Quality (volumes 1-4)”. volume 1 has been used to review academic programs in selected universities in East Africa, in which I was also directly involved.

I am currently the Head of Department of Quality Audit responsible for both programme and institutional quality audit. I have presented several papers on quality assurance at national, regional and international workshops and conferences, and attended INQAAHE Annual Conference in Australia.

I have facilitated several training courses by the Inter-University Council of East Africa (IUCEA) / DAAD quality assurance pilot project aimed at harmonizing quality assurance framework in higher education in East Africa.
I have served as an expert to quality assurance training organized by IUCEA.
I was the coordinator of the Kenyan Chapter of the harmonization of regional quality assurance in East Africa, between 2006 and 2014. I have developed the training module on the Concept of Quality and Quality assurance in Higher Education on behalf of the IUCEA.

I was part of the Steering Committee that developed the UNESO Portal on Recognized Higher Education Institutions in the World, in which Kenya was one of the 18 pilot countries. He other countries included in the project were, China, USA, Canada, U.K., Australia and Nigeria.

I was acknowledged by the International Panel on Climate Change for having contributed to the Body winning a Nobel Peace Prize as a member of the Working Team on Health.
