Professor Dr. Jianxin Zhang is the 5th and 6th President (2016-2019; 2019-2022) of the Asia-Pacific Quality Network ("APQN", the largest and most influential non-profit and non-government organization in quality assurance of higher education in the Asia-Pacific Region). She is Co-chair of the Asia-Pacific Quality Register (APQR), Professor of Yunnan University, General Secretary of Yunnan Association of Higher Education (YAHE) and Advisor of Council for CHEA/CIQG in USA (2012-2019; 2022-).
She obtained her PhD degree at Peking University in China, and obtained her Master degree at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL) in Switzerland. She was a visiting scholar in Asia-Pacific Program of Educational Innovation for Development (APEID) of UNESCO.
Her main focus now is the practices and researches of quality assurance. As the local host, she successfully organized the 2015 AAC in Kunming, China. She led over 30 on-site evaluations to various higher education institutions, designed the framework of program evaluation, and conducted over 30 workshops on QA in China, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and other countries or regions. As an APQR panelist, She evaluated the Fiji Higher Education Commission, the Russian Register and other QAAs in this region. She is one of the review panelists on the CHEA/CIQG Quality Platform Review on the Students Learning Outcomes (SLOs), and the site review leader of APQN Quality Label (APQL) on Accreditation of Internationalization to Symbiosis International (Deemed University) in India. She presented her research at the Asia-Pacific Sub-regional Preparatory Conference for World Conference on Higher Education, participated in International Forum for Education 2020 organized by East-West Center in USA and over 20 international conferences in USA, Russia, Switzerland, Sweden, Australia, Pakistan, India, China and other countries. She has visited over 60 countries /regions on various academic assignments and QA matters.
She has been teaching for over 40 years in comparative education, quality assurance, qualitative research methods and other 20 courses, supervised over 60 postgraduates in Yunnan University. She presided and engaged in over 60 research projects both domestically and abroad, e.g. “APQN Sustainable Development”, “INQAHE-APQN Survey of Internal and External QA Landscape”. She has published over 30 books (6 monographs, 4 translated books, 26 edited books) and over 250 papers. Among them, 10 received official governmental academic awards both domestically and abroad.
