Description: The International Centre of Excellence in Tourism and Hospitality Education (THE-ICE) is an international accreditation agency and a global network of leading quality tourism, hospitality, events and culinary arts (TH&E) institutions. Accreditation and quality assurance have become integral to the institutional review processes in education. In the globally competitive education environment, the importance of institutional self-review, peer review by experts in the field, benchmarking, and best practice have never been more important.
Our mission focuses on:
* Programme accreditation
* Cross-institutional benchmarking
* Promotional of THE-ICE accredited TH&E programmes and education excellence, and
* individual professional development
To further enhance our member benefits, with the guidance of the Board of Directors, THE-ICE undertakes strategic activities including the annual IPoE Forum (International Panel of Experts) and workshop events that are open to our global network as well as other interested individuals or organisations in TH&E fields.

Description: THE-ICE Executive team ensure separation of power with judgements and recommendations of incoming and current members. All recommendations are made by auditors, with final decision being made by the independent peer review panel and THE-ICE Board of Directors.
Institutions that meet the criteria set out in clause 13 of the constitution may become an Associate of THE-ICE, or a Full Member upon successful completion of THE-ICE Pre-Accreditation Fast Track, through the following process:
(a) Stating that intention in writing to the General Manager of THE-ICE and submitting an executed Associate of THE-ICE Agreement, or an executed Full Member of THE-ICE Agreement;
(b) Completing such Pre-Accreditation application procedure as may be determined from time to time and subsequently being assessed by the Assessment Panel as meeting the applicable criteria of THE-ICE Standards of Excellence;
(c) The Board approving that application by Ordinary Resolution or Circular Resolution; and

Description: Originally established and funded by the Australian Federal Government (2004 – 2008) as one of five International Centres of Excellence promoting Australian education prowess, THE-ICE was awarded to and managed by the Sustainable Tourism Cooperative Research Centre (STCRC), the largest tourism and hospitality scientific research centre in the world at that time.
In July 2008 THE-ICE transformed from a government-funded international education initiative, with eight Australian foundation members, to a not-for-profit international accreditation and quality assurance agency. Today THE-ICE is a global network 37 institutions comprising of public and private universities, vocational institutions and private hotel schools from 15 countries.

The process involves two stages: a) Pre-accreditation and b) Accreditation. Institutions seeking accreditation and membership of their TH&E (tourism, hospitality, events and culinary arts) education programmes by THE-ICE must meet THE-ICE Standards of Excellence. The process involves the completion of an application Proforma, site audit to be evaluated and conducted by registered auditor/s from the Independent THE-ICE Assessment Panel, and peer review by THE-ICE Board of Directors.
Upon successful completion of the Pre-accreditation process, or the Fast Track Process, the institution will be invited to join the network as an Associate of THE-ICE. Within the three year validity of Pre-accreditation, Associates of THE-ICE may apply for Full Accreditation and become a Full Member of THE-ICE. As a Full Members, programmes are accredited for a period of five years after which Re-accreditation is required.
