Description: The Council for Private Education (CPE) was officially established on 1 December 2009 as a statutory board of the Ministry of Education.
CPE's role is to regulate the private education sector with the objective of improving the service standards of private education institutions. CPE is also responsible for industry development and promotion of the private education sector.

CPE works closely with SPRING Singapore who awards the prestigious Singapore Quality Award as well as other business excellence award schemes. CPE has the support of SPRING Singapore on the EduTrust Certification Scheme. With the launch of EduTrust scheme on 21 Dec 2009, SPRING had announced it decision to terminate the SQC-PEO scheme on 28 Feb 2010.
