Criteria Requirements for Intermediate Member

1 Criterion: Nature of the operations of the agency:
Measure: The agency is responsible for reviews at institutional or programme level of post-secondary education institutions or post-secondary quality assurance agencies
Description: National Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (NACTE) is responsible to accredit teacher education programs being offered by all public and private institutions in the country.
2 Criterion: Mission statement and objectives:
Measure: The agency has formulated a mission statement and objectives which are consistent with the nature of the agency
The Mission of the Council is:
To ensure that all teacher education programs offer high quality teacher education in the country through a sustained and professional internal academic audit and external audit.

The objectives include.
1. Developing national professional standards for elementary and secondary school teachers.
2 Developing a mechanism for the conduct and evaluation of teacher education programs for accreditation purpose.
3 Establishing policies and developing standards and instruments for evaluation of teacher education programs.
4 Creating awareness, understanding and interest among the teacher education institutions, teacher educators, professionals and other stakeholders regarding the importance and need of accreditation.
5 Performing other activities that may directly or indirectly lead towards the attainment of the quality teacher education through accreditation process.
3 Criterion: :
Proof of the organisation’s good standing with the local QA agency
Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan has rated NACTE as equal to the other three constituted accreditation councils. Information is available on HEC web. www.hec.edu.pk

Criteria Requirements for Observer

Criterion For Observers:
Measure: APQN accepts as Observers organisations outside the Asia-Pacific region, including: external quality assurance agencies; institutions with a major interest in evaluation, accreditation and quality assurance in higher education; other regional networks that have major interests in and strong links with the region
