1 Criterion: Nature of the operations of the agency:
Measure: The agency is responsible for reviews at institutional or programme level of post-secondary education institutions or post-secondary quality assurance agencies
Description: Finance Accreditation Agency or FAA is an international and independent accreditation body, is responsible for driving quality learning initiatives within the Finance Services Industry (FSI), in which its activities include learning programme and institutional accreditation, development of a finance qualification structure, recognition of prior learning, collaborations and affiliations for mutual and global recognition with local and international professional bodies & associations and institutions of higher learning and promotion of future learning practices in the FSI. Through these initiatives, FAA aims to contribute towards promoting the highest standards in the development of talent for the FSI both in Malaysia and globally.
The establishment of FAA complements the Financial Sector Blueprint 2011-2020 of Bank Negara Malaysia and the Securities Commission Malaysiaâ??s Capital Market Master Plan 2 with clear emphasis in enhancing the skills and competencies of the existing workforce to enable them to perform in a more competitive and globalised environment and to meet rigorous standards in delivering intended learning outcomes that are relevant to the needs of the financial services industry and that professionals in the financial services industry are fully competent for their roles.

FAA's vision is to be a credible and internationally recognised accreditation body for the FSI. FAA will strive to achieve this by adhering to high quality in its quality assurance and accreditation conduct and practices. In this context, FAA will have internationally benchmarked best practices, international advisory committees and accreditation of international learning programmes.

FAAâ??s mission is to inspire and promote quality-oriented continuing education and training for the FSI. Through the establishment of quality criteria and the assurance of an accreditation process focused on integrity, FAA seeks to identify, evaluate and enhance the delivery of continuing professional development and training. FAA aspires to globally promote its services as an effective and reliable accreditation authority. Its mission statements are:
â?¢ Promote and maintain quality in human capital development in FSI.
â?¢ Ensure high quality assurance practices and accreditation of learning programmes and qualifications in accordance with FAA's criteria and principles.
â?¢ Seek collaborations and affiliations for mutual and global recognition with local and international professional bodies & associations, accreditation bodies and institutions of higher learning.

At this present moment, FAA complements the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) in the quality assurance and accreditation of programmes in the FSI.

Measure: APQN accepts as Observers organisations outside the Asia-Pacific region, including: external quality assurance agencies; institutions with a major interest in evaluation, accreditation and quality assurance in higher education; other regional networks that have major interests in and strong links with the region
