Professional Summary Description: European/international expert on the evaluation, development and internationalization of Higher Education programs, projects, institutions and policies.
- One of the fathers of the European Higher Education Area, acting first for the European University Association for the design and inception of the Bologna Process and later for the European Commission for the shaping and setting in place of the European Unionâ??s strategy for the modernization of universities (higher education strand of the EUâ??s Lisbon Strategy for the Knowledge Age); in this capacity, also one of the shapers of the European QA system.
- Cooperates with many international organizations (e.g. UNESCO for the preparation of the 2009 World Conference on HE, World Bank, OECD), universities (e.g. for double-degree courses or strategic plans for internationalization), higher education networks, national and regional governments, quality assurance agencies and networks.
- Contributed to the design, shaping and implementation of many important mobility schemes, in particular: the EUâ??s ERASMUS program, the TEMPUS program (cooperation in HE with EUâ??s neighboring countries), the ERASMUS MUNDUS program (cooperation at postgraduate level between EU and leading foreign universities), Asia-Link program
